The Impact of the Bank of Japan’s Low and Negative Interest Rate Policy on Financial Institutions

The Bank of Japan (BoJ) introduced its zero-interest rate policy in 1999. Since then, the policy rate has been under 0.5%. In 2013, the BoJ made a step further by adopting the policy of quantitative and qualitative easing (QQE).
